Default Erma m1 .22

Pardon me if I'm posting in the wrong category. A local seller has a 1967 Erma M1 .22, correctly proofed, with two magazines and c tip sling. I do understand the general history, etc. of these guns. I'm thinking about adding it to my US Carbine collection just as an alternate look a like variant. The buyer is asking $550, this seems a bit high to me. Any thoughts here would be much appreciated.

I think I paid around $350 for the one I bought over a year ago. $550 is quite a bit for one of those. They are excellent shooters. Mine will shoot the 10x out at 25 yrds with no problem.

Default Erma .22

I bought one from AimSurplus over a year ago, paid $319.95, don't remember what the shipping ran. Not sure what the availability is now for them.

I've been looking for magazines and they are extremely hard to find, and when you can find them they range from $75-100, so maybe $550 with two mags isn't so bad?

If you do buy it, I found CCI ammo the best for proper cycling. The bolt wouldn't even close on the surplus Remington round nose lead I bought from CMP several years back.

I just checked Aimsurplus . They're not listed anymore. I remember now that's where I got mine. I think the shipping on them was around $30 give or take. I paid another $30 at my FFL dealer to pick it up.

You can get magazines for them off of Triple K MFG CO. Part no. SKO:798M $55.00

The are for the Iver Johnson Carbine which is exact carbine as the Erma

Thanks for all the advice. I went ahead and purchased $385, came with WW2 C Tip US Carbine sling, IS Oiler and two 15 round magazines. All is pretty good shape, itís missing the top handguard but Iíve already got a replacement on order. Looking forward to a little plinking soon.

I have two, one new in box and one that I shoot. As long as you have a complete gun with rear sight (tough to find) and a mag or two you should be good to go. You will like the rifle as it's a great shooter.

I did a bunch of testing this last summer on ammo and here's what I found regarding feed and cycling issues using 10 and 15 round magazines
(YMMV)

CCI STD Velocity Round Lead 1070fps: OK
CCI Competition Round Lead 1200fps: OK
CCI Competition Round Copper 1200fps: Some feed issues but mostly ok

Blazer 40 gr (I believe this was Lead Round): OK

Fiocchi subsonic LHP: OK, Appeared to be very accurate

Browning BPR Performance hollow point 1435 fps: Bad feed and a few out of battery firing after cycling

Winchester Super-X Subsonic 1065fps: Mostly bad feeds
