Many of the local clubs around here charge 25 to 30 per match and they take all day on a Saturday or Sunday.I think its a good deal so my son and myself will be there.

Match fees a year are but a pittance compared to what I spend on all of the other stuff to participate in this sport.
Absolutely True..

My GSM matches are $10. NRA XTC matches are anywhere from $25 - $40 (depends on payout or not) and EIC $30 - $40. But we don't have the overhead of renting a NG base, running a patrol boat, paying staff and recouping ROI on Etargets...

All good points.. Just a question... Is the CMP its own self funding entity or does it receive funds from the government?.

All of our matches that we run,Garand,Modern military and other CMP matches fees are only 4 dollars. We average 15 to 20 shooters, now we are in a very rural area.We have a lot more corn and beans then any else.We only have two hundred yard walk-up targets at this time, the goal is to increase out to 300 yards in a few years. We keep the fee low to grow our program and it is working, over the last few years our numbers are going up.My son and myself will travel to shoot matches and most clubs charge at least 20 and up.He is still a Junior and some will give us break on the fee and some charge the same.We are talking about going south over winter break and firing at the CMP. That is 2000 miles round trip ,its only money

CMP is a Govt chartered corporation that receives no funding from the budget. Their income comes from the sale of surplus rifles and other items.

I'm excited for the opportunity and hope the weather holds. I'll be there as long as it isn't pouring rain and 50 MPH winds.
