Default Shoot both-as-issued and unlimited M-1 matches???

Hi,
Before Camp Perry I asked in e-mail if I could shoot my as-issued M1 in the Garand Match, AND shoot the Unlimited Garand match with a glass-bedded Garand.
I was told "No" You can't shoot both matches on the same day. (I shoot Springfield and Vintage on the same day, so I thought this would be possible.)

For grins I asked the same question during In-Processing and the answer was still "No." You'd think you could do AM and PM on Garand day with 2 different Garands.
I hope someday I can get my glass-bedded safe-queen out and shoot it at Perry.
Anyone know why you can't be in both matches on the same day if you use different rifles?

Why can't you shoot what you want? Isn't it recorded whayrifle type it is on the sheet?

The John C. Garand Match and Unlimited Garand matches have two different scorecards just like the Springfield and Vintage matches, which I shoot AM and PM on the same day.
My question is why can't I bring two different Garands and shoot both Garand matches AM and PM like Springfield and Vintage?
They told me No twice. I think I explained it easy enough to them but I never got a reason why Garand match day was any different than Springfield/Vintage match day.

The computer system probably can't process your request as it is listed as one match weather as-issued or un-limited.

Well: If you just want an answer as to why, then ask the people responsible. That would be CMP Competitions. Be sure and let us know what you find. Good Shooting. ...

I went to the CMP again and got a real fast reply.
The answer for Camp Perry's National Matches was still "No" because the National Garand Match is set up as one match. That's why you can't shoot Unlimited and As-Issued at Perry because you can't enter one match twice.

She said:

"Yes you are correct in that it is only set up as one match and competitors have
to choose which class they would like to shoot."

The nice woman further stated:

"Now at our travel games it is a different story. During these events, it is set
up as a GSM match and you can shoot up to 4 times. Here you could shoot your
unlimited, your as-issued, your Springfield, and your vintage firearms over the
course of the events. We are currently hosting the New England games in Vermont
and have Western Games coming up here shortly."

So there it is. Thanks for the quick replies CMP!!!!

I was told the same thing about the carbine match. I wanted to shoot as issued and then shoot commercial.

I had the same problem at Camp Perry. The CMP would not allow me to shoot in both Unlimited and Garand Matches. I chose to shoot the Unlimited Garand Match but later found out that my overall agregate score was not allowed because I shot in the Unlimited Class. Bottomline, the CMP should allow individuals to shoot in both matches since the Unlimited Garand scores aren't allowed in your overall aggregate scores.

It is still one match with two different classes. Not two matches.
