Seasons' Greetings!

On a Smith-Corona rifle, the bayonet band, safety lock, and trigger guard were parkerized.

Good Luck! And Happy New Year!

Excellent help everyone, thank you. I don't remember every cartouche on the stock but I remember seeing some, I don't think it had been sanded ever. It sounds like this one is a good deal and I'm hoping it's still there when I go back to buy it. Thanks again.

Here's a few pictures of the Smith Corona. It came with the extra stock too. Not sure which one would be the original, if either. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I'm glad I bought it. I'd appreciate any comments on originality, as I don't know much about the 1903a3.

I’d say you did pretty good.

The pistol grip ( "C" stock) stock is a Remington. The "straight" one is a Smith-Corona. S-Cs were pinned, Remmies were screwed.

Personally I'd use the C-stock and store the straight one.

The pistol grip stock looks to be a Springfield stock with the S in the cut out for the bolt cut off. Remington used both recoil pins and bolts for their stock reinforcement. The only way to tell, well I should say one way to tell if itís a Remington or SC stock is the shape of the cut out for the barrel band retaining spring on the right side of the stock.

Your Smith-Corona rifle appears to be mostly original, except that a previous owner replaced the original stock with a Type C pistol-grip stock. The stacking swivel band and the lower band also appear to be parkerized replacements. The original bands were blued. The extra stock you received with the rifle appears to be the original stock.

Thanks for sharing!

Remington did not make "C" stocks.
