Post Tom Johnson's Sporter Tips and Servicing

I read in an article linked below that this "Tom Johnson's Sporter Tips and Servicing" booklet was a good guide for servicing your 853, and was carried by CMP, I found it on the publications page tonight.-$2.00.

Tom Johnson’s Sporter Tips
An illustrated 8-page booklet with cleaning and maintenance tips as well as action upgrades that can be done with simple hand tools such as screwdrivers, a drill and a hammer. This step-by-step guide for disassembly and reassembly provides pictures and explanations for each step in the process. The booklet also discusses and illustrates stock work, showing how to modify and build up 853 and 888 stocks for better fit and performance while keeping them legal under National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules.
NLU # 716 $2.00 each

I found it online at this link through a 4H program.

This blog article says that a suitable O ring is available from NAPA.
"a metric 19 x 2.5 mm O-Ring"

The 853 owners manual lists the parts group for the Daiy O ring, which may be available through Daisy at their service number: 800-713-2479

You may have read through this thread http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=49001 but if not check it out. I list all the parts for the 753 upgrade. The majority of these rifles will shoot the same hole at 10 meters. I would try a few different pellets before doing any stock mods.
