Default 9/10/16 report

I stopped in with my 12 year old last Saturday. Upon entry to the store at 8:30 we were greeted with the sight of full floor racks!! Alas, just snipers, drill rifles, and the (IMO) overpriced Winchesters. We picked through the drill rifles and I did find a few that were interesting, but not $380 interesting. There were a few good stocks, and a few good receivers, but not a combination of both. The wall racks were mostly bare, just a few misc. b/r's and 1903 drills. We bought some HXP and headed home. Undaunted, I placed a SG order via mail.

Did anyone talk to the staff or hear about any 8-ball or crystal ball predictions as it pertains to any foreseeable increase in rifle supply? Any chatter about a SS shipment North? I may be in the area next month and have my fingers and toes crossed...just wondering what the talk is...

The guy at the counter said it would be "at least a month until they got a truck."

I was told that they would most likely not get anything in until after the election.

And yes...30.06

I assume the wood is Dupage, but is the barrel a Criterion, ... and are these Specials chambered in '06 and .308?
I believe these are store purchase only. Wood is all new CMP walnut. Barrels are Criterion in 30-06. There were 70 available in the racks. Didn't see any Win 13 serial numbers. Beautiful rifles.

That isn't "high". Look around at the prices. Anything that says "Winchester" will bring a premium for some reason. Check out the CMP Auction WRA...
So there ya go....

Default Win

They are all GI parts, with the exception of the stock. The WIN-13 and the rifles you mention are different animals. The WIN on the auction is "correct". That means the parts are correct for the period of manufacture of the ser# nothing more. The rifle on the auction is getting VERY expensive for what it is (IMHO).
The $1200.00 rifle is actually a pretty decent deal. Essentially a new rifle that happens to have a Winchester receiver. All depends on what you like/want.
