Thank you so much sir! Is it rude to ask for one more for a friend?

He received a Colt 1911 frame, Ithaca slide No 344156

I do appreciate it.

There was a shipment of 10,000 pistols serial numbers 334157-348960 shipped 6/25/1918 to Ord. Off., Bush Terminal, Brooklyn, New York for the AEF. There was also a shipment of 25 pistols serial numbers 325209-360269 shipped 6/30/1918 to Small Arms Proving Ground, Springfield, Massachusetts. Based on the size of the shipments 344156 was more likely one of the 10,000 rather than one of the 25.

Hello. I just received Colt SN 1103197 - thanks in advance for any shipment details you may have.

Service grade, nice pistol. There's a stamp on the left side directly in front of the slide stop pin and directly above the front of the trigger guard that has what I believe to be the Austrian Eagle and the letters BH. I read that it's the Bundesheer proof mark and may be one of the pistols left in Austria upon reunification. I don't see a lot of info about this and how they got back into US inventory. Any information that anyone can provide is much appreciated. I'll gladly put the proof mark question in another thread if that's more appropriate.

No input on when it was brought back, but it originally shipped to Springfield on either 8/3/43, 8/5/43 or 8/11/43.

That makes sense, it has a Springfield barrel too. Thank you!
