Nope, didn't happen. Your rifle was re-barreled sometime between Sept 1943 to whenever CMP inspected it.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Itís a cool coincidence that the barrel was from the same time period. Makes sense though since SA would have been churning out a high number of barrels in 43/44. Probably a bunch of spares left over after the war.

From what I've heard and read SA and WRA didn't play well together.

Thanks! Iím lucky that I only have a four hour round trip. I bought my first garand back February, I now own three. You can say the bug has bitten me hard . I have a goal of getting one of each manufacturer, at least thatís how I justify it lol.

This is the first field grade Iíve gotten and I have to say Iím pretty pleased with how it looks. The finish is better than I thought it would be and pretty much all the WRAs had good barrels that werenít worn out too badly. They will give a lifetime of shooting to whoever ends up with them. Saw one with a Dutch barrel that was a first for me. Also saw one with a nice birch stock that had an orange look to it. First time Iíd got to handle a birch stock on a garand. I almost got it because I liked the unique look to it, but settled on the one I got and got lucky to score an IHC stock that will mate nicely with the IHC I bought a couple of weeks ago. All in all a nice trip. Even if I left empty handed, itís always nice to look at the rifles and learn something about them.

Thatís interesting, especially since it was wartime production. I love all the history behind these rifles. I guess theyíll have time to work it out since they will be together in my safe for the foreseeable future

Bobby started working the store on a regular basis this year and only worked the store infrequently last year. I think you may have him confused with someone else. The store staff is rotated weekly into the store from their regular jobs at the armorys to work at the store on a rotating basis so you see lots of different individuals at the store...

Only a guess, but I think they could disappear just as quickly as they showed up!!! The rifle I picked up this (Thursday) was serviced on Tuesday!!! Very small buffer of rifles I think.....
