Default IBM Presentation Carbine

I recently picked up a Presentation IBM. I am wondering if any has a list of attributes for the presentation guns and if they have a list of Presentation recipients?

I know someone will say photos. I know some will say fake. I wish to read whatever data is available on these IBM Presentation units.

I had a standard product presentation gun that was claimed on one site to be a bubba job so I sold it for the parts. Later I found it was real.

Eek. That lost presentation story is unfortunate. I don't know anything about them but there's only one site I know of dedicated to only Carbines and it's
http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/

One of the researchers recently posted in the Carbine forum of this site about a very collectible variation. That stuff is way over my and most people's heads, but they understand it.

Yikes, did you ever confront them about their horrible advice?

I understand your reluctance to post photos about your possible IBM presentation carbine, but it's a way to confirm it one way or the other. Can you give a bit more background info on the SP presentation you were wrongly informed about?

Bob.
No one with a fully functioning CPU dismantles a carbine much less a rare presentation collectable over internet drivel on “one site.” BS abounds both in the story and the “.......net.” BS detector pegs here.

I would not even take apart my Blue Sky Inland. Disgusting.

According to War Baby by Larry Ruth there were at least six presentation carbines produced and awarded to IBM executives. The drawing of a plaque of one illustrated in War Baby only gives the initials of the recipient.

I went online to IBM archives but found no mention at all of there war time production. I once saw a presentation carbine on display in the lobby of the Poughkeepsie plant when I first started working there in 1978. Unfortunately I don't recall any details about it except that the plaque was silver. I hope it is at corporate headquarters in Armonk, NY. Eddie

There are more than 6
There are at least 2 that have a plant 4 plaque without names. Both in private hands.

I doubt IBM if they still had that carbine would display it. Different times and that area of NY would mostly look down on firearms.

I have a list of 8 names including the one on mine so that bears out what Ruth puts out in War Baby III

I try to watch out for IBM carbines in general, and presentation carbines in particular. My current list of past sales is:

Sorry for the terrible formatting - on my way out and don't have time to juggle the formatting from a spreadsheet. Hope you can read it without proper columns, and that it helps. Location is where the info came from (mostly auctions). Serial is obvious. Presented To: is what the plaque says.

Please post pics if you can. Thanks.

Personally, you've provided so little information that it's still in doubt what you or don't. I know I asked a question about the SP presentation you say you had, but you ignored it as you have others inquiries too. I guess to some degree I agree with .Steve. so until I see more info you aren't truly serious in confirming anything.
