Default North Store report 12/08/2012

Today was a long day. First went to the North Store and then to the Medina gunshow. Got to the North Store at 8:20am. About 7-8 people in front of me. There were about 12 SA SGs in the rack when the doors opened. All snatched up in 5 minutes. I grabbed an SA SG but then later handed it to a guy who showed up 10 minutes late. Nothing special at the North Store today. The SA FG rifles had some 3.x million rifles with 1945 barrels but most of the barrels measured 2+. I found two SA FG rifles with SA/GAW stocks but the cartouches were barely visible so I left the rifles on the rack when I left.

I looked at pretty much every rifle in the place, trying to find serial numbers consecutive to one I already had. The closest I came was around 200 off from one I already have. I will keep trying but so far, no luck.

The store had HRA and SA FG rifles and a few rack grades. Navy BRs, regular Garand BRs, Kimbers, SG Specials, Specials, .308 rifles. The usual stuff. No 5.56. Some cans of .30-06 brass - 240 to 250 pieces for $15. They still have 10 inch and 16 inch bayonets. Ho, hum. I guess Wednesday was the day to be there, and today there was just left overs.

Next Friday, they will be closed.

A few pictures for your amusement. The last rifle with the 5 digit serial number is a drill rifle.

Drove to Medina after the North Store. It was packed at the gunshow. A few Garands and carbines for sale. Had a nice talk with the guy who sells AK bayonets, mags, and pouches in the middle. I saw the new Yugo M57 Tokarev that Century is starting to release. No crests on those. You can pick those up for $285 plus tax. One guy had BRW M1A mags for $20 each but they all had yellow paint on the bottom of the mag - not sure why. M1A op rod springs for $2 each. Saw a 1944 K31 for $395. Saw an early Argentine 1891 - A serial number range. Lots of ammo dealers and the prices were not jacked up that I noticed. SAW cans for $20 each. 30mm ammo cans for $35 each. A few SKS rifles and a few AK rifles.

Thanks for the report abeal. I almost pulled the trigger and went up to the NS yesterday. I don't feel that bad I didn't now.

All SG's were gone by end of Sat and staff said there would be no more trucks this year. What's out is it. They may put some more FG's to fill the racks, but these were the FG's in the racks earlier this year...nothing new unfortunately.

Very sad, truck that came this week only had enough SG rifles for three days. I was hoping to make my first trip to the store Saturday. Now I am not sure it will be worth the trip (5hrs each way). Do they have the 30.06 Greek ball ammo cans in stock all of the time?

Yes as far as I know there are never out of HXP. When that day comes there will be a lot of people crying!

Making my last trip for the year on Saturday, and bringing along the boys to help me pick out a receiver to build for my Father In Law.

I took them to a Garand Match last year, and he had a blast...he fell in love with the M1 I let him use, and his father, a WW2 vet, died about a year ago, so I figured I, with the help of his older grandkids, will build him up a mostly correct WW2 gun for Christmas. I'm not optimistic about what'll be on the racks, but I do have one more purchase to hit my 12 for the year, so I might pick up something that jumps out at me, or maybe a B/R or Navy B/R for a vacation project for me.
Pictures, please; I live vicariously through the purchases of others...

What a difference a couple days make. Wednesday was ONE of the best days I've ever had at the NS...Just goes to show ya..Guys like Radonist got er made. Being able to stop a couple times a week would make me a whole lot more picky..It's been rare that at least one rifle doesn't call to me
