Default I finally got to shoot it.....

It took me a while to make it out to the range but I finally got a chance to shoot my 1911a1. Fitting day as it was on dec 16th.

What a sweet little shooter. I probably put 100 rounds down range. I had steel placed anywhere from 25 to 75 yards. The only thing that was difficult was picking up the sights for longer shots. I enjoyed shooting it more than my 90's era springfield a1. So much so that I will be selling that one and sticking with the cmp gun for range time. Now I just need a holster!

Shooting mine again this weekend. Trying to learn how best to hold and the best ammo to get a better pattern. I have put about 500 rounds through her already. These CMP 1911s are sweet shooting pistols!

Nice photos. Looks good paired up with the M1. Where is that range located?

Looks like a Colt post-WW2 slide; from what I understand, those are fully hardened unlike the WW2 slides that are partially hardened and the M1911 slides that weren’t hardened at all. Should make a great shooter without any fear of cracked slides.
