Default M1A / M14 Modern Military questions

Im sure these questions have been asked before but I wasn't able to find the posts.
I would like to be sure that I enter the Modern Military match at the Western Games with a qualifying rifle.
Regarding standard grade M1A type rifle configured to be legal in the state of Kalifornia:
1. Is a standard 10 rd magazine legal for match?
2. Is a muzzle break legal for match?
3. Is shimming the gas system legal for match?
Any insight will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark

Unless someone from CMP responds, you can only get opinions here. Send your questions to CMP Competitions......and make a copy of their reply. Good Shooting. ...

See:
https://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/CMPGamesRules.pdf

Ref: 5.2.1 through 5.2.4

My interpretation would be:
1) Yes
2) No
3) No

Since I'm in California and have a muzzle brake on my M1A I was curious as to the rule. I sent an email to CMP rules and received a reply...

Tom,

You can have a muzzle break on an M1A for the modern military matches.

Thanks,

Michelle Woods

Interesting, no glass bedding for M1A in CMP. Mine is set up for NRA M1A matches with glass bedding. Guess I could get a second stock.......hate to scrape off the epoxy where the front of hand guard meets up with the front band.

I took my M14 civilian equivalent to the Western Games and weighed in with the muzzle brake attached and a flash hider in my tool box ( in case). There was no issue.

Mark,
What about the other 2 points, shimming and 10rd mags?

I also signed in and trigger weighed with an SAI muzzle brake on my build, but no issues were made.

Luckily, or unluckily, I forgot my mags back here at home and had to borrow a couple of 20 rounders (thanks to MM for helping me out!) I did get a sidelong stare for the muzzle brake from him though, HA HA!

Jeremy,
Good seeing you at the WGs! Congrats on the Silver in Carbine and Bronze in Vintage!
I got some stares on my muzzle brake also . I had to explain how an evil flash hider would make us criminals in Kalifornia. I was told by people who know...shimming is not within the rules and 10 rd mags are fine.
