Lightbulb 1911 Cardboard Storage Box

https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...lkWXJfWVk1QkZn

Quite some time ago I saw some posts about the 1911 Cardboard Storage Boxes. I believe they were also pictured in the American Rifleman article about the CMP 1911's. From what I recall CMP stated it was not feasible to send the box with the pistol. I haven't seen any recent posts about the boxes.

My RGN is 9576 with only 8000 pistols in the first release the odds were not in my favor to get one. I have been watching the forum and looking at all the 1911 gun porn received. Although the reparked 1911's look great and I would be more than happy with one. The 1911's posted have that been there done that look.
Also, a 1911 has been in service the entire life of the pistol.

So off to auction we go. First week, well we all know that was a feeding frenzy.
Second week got outbid, wah wah.
Hecklers continually posting anyone can go to the LGS or Gun Show and buy a 1911, and much cheaper. Auction's way over priced. Nothing special about these 1911's
BUT
Thinking
It's not GOVT Surplus, who knows how many parts have been changed to make it "right." It's a 1911 but no real history.

Well CMP is the only way you're gonna get one the way the military left it.
So
Week 3 1914 Colt
That covers the whole shebang who knows where it's been the last 105 years, how many servicemen have handled it? How many branches of service? How many continents has it been on? How many shots fired to defend our country???

Time to pull the trigger. Placed the bid and forgot about it. If you believe that I've got some prime real estate for sale.
Extra money spent supports the CMP, maybe in the long one of them naysayers gets one if the program keeps rinning.

Fianlly the auction is coming to an end
Woke up next day and checked the email and auction and I won.
CMP's already covered the hoops to jump through for the paperwork so no need to explain that.
Fast forward to the FFL.
Coincidentally the delivery date and FFL location was on the way home from taking the wife to dinner. Just gave her the Coyote Glock 19X so she didn't care I was getting another 1911.
Turning on the street, FedEx truck, wonders did they just drop off my 1911?
Walked in the FFL...
You must have been watching the tracking, we were just gonna call you.
Look over the counter, CMP hard case in sight on the far end. Knees get shaky on the way.

Finally a CMP 1911 in sight.
Hard case open and 1911 is inside a CARDBOARD STORAGE BOX.
Extra surprise maybe which adds to the history.

There are many like it but this one is mine...

Awesome! Please consider that storage in a cardboard box may not be ideal.

I wonder if this is going to be unique for just some auction pistols? OP, was it mentioned in the original auction that the box would accompany this pistol?
Congrats and the box is/was a nice touch!!!

No mention in the auction listing of the box being included.

I know the box is hand marked with the correct serial number, but would this box be original to this pistol? I see that the printed label is marked for a 1911A1.
Still a nice item to have.
