Default Stake marks killing me.

Is there a cure for staking marks on a receiver? At least one of my rifles has at least 6 stake holes and couple are craters out on the edge that will never be hidden.

Anything you attempt to do will only make it look worse and less correct. To me a carbine that has a bunch of stake marks for an adj sight is normal for a rebuild. A reciever that has been doctored up to look right is ruined,IMO. Staked guns are not good restoration candidates. The unstaked Winnie I sold you is.

I've got several Winchesters, though. This is my only Rock-ola so far. Two or 4 stake marks are one thing. This thing is like a practice staking mule. It's hideous on only one area.
Look at this big wart. If I could just fix the one I'd be fine with it.

I agree, leave it be. You will start to dick with it, take off too much or worse and then want to bang your head against a wall because its ruined.

Save your money and buy the real deal, it will be money well spent in the long run. "Restorations", especially those that fill stake marks to give the illusion of originality are a fool's errand and border on unethical.
