Update:
I was away all weekend scuba diving (got my lady and her sons certified, woot!) and had a little family emergency yesterday that's ongoing. I did get the stock set from Sparx/Roadkingtrax and assembled everything (a couple small parts are still incoming, but I used stuff from my stash to finish the gun). I spent a good 45 minutes figuring out how to get the 1907 sling together (my first time...leather slings are beautiful, but for now I'm sticking with the plain web "idiot proof" slings, haha). The gun looks nothing short of fantastic...Sparx is an artist, and it's now the best looking Garand in my home...I actually wait to get it out of my house, as my collection is feeling the absence of my obsessive cleaning and fondling, haha. I didn't get a chance to photograph it yesterday, and it's raining off and on today, so I'm hoping I can get some pictures posted during one of the breaks...it really is amazing looking. I wasn't sure if the metal would need refinishing, but I'm actually thinking that it won't...there's a little bit of pitting under the wood, but everything visible when the gun is together looks very nice and original...I think it would be a mistake to repark it, but I'll see what you all have to say once the photos are posted. I apparently need to update my Photobucket account, as the free version isn't enough bandwidth, I should be able to do that today so the other photos will show up...who knew? So to sum up: It's together, it looks amazing, photos are forthcoming, and Sparx is a savant. Soooooo....Goodguy176, where is this thing going next?!? Dave |

Ok, after a few expected and unexpected delays, here are the photos. It was pouring rain and hail today, but I didn't want to wait any longer to post photos, so I started inside, at my kitchen table, where the lighting is mediocre at best. There was a brief break in the weather, but it was overcast and gloomy, so I managed to get a few outside, but I fear I didn't do the gun justice...it's simply beautiful, overall probably better than anything I have in my collection, mostly due to the wood...a talented refinisher+a nice piece of walnut+no fear of preserving stock cartouches makes for a fantastic combination!
Here's the whole package, which was only possible with the donations of time and parts from the generous folks here...feel free to pat yourselves on the back, you did great! ![]() ![]() A closeup of the wood: ![]()

Lockup is nice and tight, and she's got a pretty shapely rear end:
