Default Question about M1 Carbine Spring

How long, or, for that matter, short, should a spring be in a M1 Carbine 15 round magazine to operate effectively?

I'm trying to determine if I need to replace a mag spring.

Thank you.

I'm not sure there is an official regulation length since there were so many different manufacturers, but probably the best way to determine if you need to replace a mag spring is if it doesn't feed rounds into the carbine reliably.

If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Default US made springs are very high quality

If you think it is a problem, stretch it out a tad. It is probably just fine.
