Smile MyGunDB: CMP Edition now available!

So those following the previous thread about my firearm Inventory program, MyGunDB are aware that a CMP version was coming, which would directly help support the CMP with each purchase.

Well, it's here!

http://CMP.MyGunDB.com

With the licensing agreement in place for the rebranding, I am finally able to offer the CMP edition. Please note, your order must be made through the CMP.MyGunDB.com site in order for your purchase to go towards supporting the CMP -- any orders made through the main MyGunDB.com site will not.

While there are several other organizations that are rebranding MyGunDB, The CMP was #1 on my list to get involved because it is a group that I firmly believe in and want to do whatever i can to help support it. I am very, very happy that this version was able to be released!

If anyone has any questions or suggestions, please let me know!

As a heads up, if you already have MyGunDB but would rather see the CMP logo instead of my MyGunDB logo, you can download the version from cmp.mygundb.com and it will NOT affect any data -- your database and registration will be fine; you'll just see the CMP related logos and links, that's all.

I had the previous version and just for fun thought I would try switching to the CMP version. It worked great. Just like you said, the old logo went away and the CMP Logo appeared.

Also, are there any plans to include data sheets that can be attached to Garands that are in the DataBase? I'm new to the program so if they are already a feature, please let me know where I can find them.

Thanks Alan for a great program and how easy it is to update. Mm

I do not include datasheets -- I'm not sure how to implement drawing markings on it. Any suggestions as to how to handle that?

How about the ability to link pictures instead? Would that work? I can add this stuff but it'll have to wait a little bit as I still need to finish the report rewrite (what a pain!) and some other tweaks, but it can go on my ToDo list if I figure out how to handle it.

In the meantime, you could always attach a sheet as an image in the pictures tab until it gets implemented.

Alan, I wanted the CMP logo on my copy BUT, just want to make sure, it says it is going to load v1.94 and my version is v1.94.2. Do I still tell it to load the older version ? Don't want to screw the pooch on this thing !!!

Ah, I should have clarified that!

Each rebranded organization receives 1 file that sets the Brand flag. Then after it is run, if there is an update it'll ask you to update to the latest version -- that update file is the same file for everyone. So the older one is the one that sets the flag.

So After you run the CMP version, it'll have you update to the same version you're using now and you'll continue to see the CMP logo and all.

The Brand-Setting install file will only get updated after major updates, in order to make my life easier basically so I don't have to make a dozen versions every release. Helping organizations raise funds by providing a rebranded version they can offer their members is awesome -- compiling a separate version with different images, links, rss feeds and names for each is not!

For anyone interested, if you look at the install directory to see the images it has, you can see there are ones for each rebrand currently released to the public

I have a desktop and a laptop. Can this be downloaded and used on both without additional cost or do I need to buy the license for each computer? Can the data be stored seperately on CD or DVD rather than on my hard drive only?

Thanks,

Larry

Yes, you can use it on both with the same code.

As for storing the data on a CD, you can back it up to a CD but it runs from your hard drive. I personally use dropbox to use the same database on multiple computers.

Alan,
How strong is the encryption on the database?

Thanks!

It is 256bit AES encryption. Passwords are not stored, and instead are used on the fly to generate decryption hashes.

If you don't have the password, you ain't getting into the database
