    Interesting auction

CMP auction has this unissued late M1 with a WW2 buttplate.

These unissued rifles were built towards the end of production, probably just using up what stock was left. I got a 6 million rifle off the auction early last summer that appeared almost unused, it had a WWII buttplate also.

not unusual to see flat plunger WWII butt plates on original post war rifles

I have a nice DAS cartouched early type M14 type stock that has a mint WWII SA buttplate too. I'm sure SA had a ton left over after WWII.
