I asked, if your friend had a barrel, because I was going to offer to do it but I don't have any spare barrels. And getting a barrel in this time is tough.
But after Mr. K4k's post, not offering any help, why bother. It would probability get lost in the mail. i.e. stolen in Macon. I agree hand delivering is best.

Wow, I've never seen a barrel like that before. Like a thin outer shell over a machined down barrel? It doesn't look like the "extension" has any rifling so it may be just that. Any identifiable markings on it?

That is bizarre. The other thing to consider is that he may now be unintentionally in possession of a short barrel rifle.
