Ithaca used by Austrian Bundesheer Army

Received my service grade 1943 Ithaca last week and surprised to find the Austrian Bundesheer Army mark. Slide and barrel was replaced with contracted parts, more than likely when the unit was returned to the US Army in the 70's however found no arsenal rebuild marks. Anyone else receive theirs with interesting proof marks?

Wow. That's very cool. That's definitely a well traveled firearm. Don't you wish it could talk and tell you its story?

Would be very interesting. I'm really surprised that it actually made its way back to the States. I read that less than 1850 of the 1911's were given to the Austrians following the war. Supposedly they were used into the 1970's until they were replaced by the Glock 17.

Nice looking 1911.
I donít recall seeing any CMP 1911s posted with foreign service markings; great catch.

Very cool provenance

Oh, that is outstanding! I see them marked this way on lugers and M1 carbines infrequently, but first pistol I've seen!

There were two, marked that way, that were just on the CMP Auction site. I think it was last week.

Must had been nicer than mine to make it to the auction site.

Wow! Very neat! . This would go nicely with my CMP Austrian return M1 carbine

I wouldn't count on it.
CMP is known to accidentally/intentionally include gems in the luck of the draw mail orders.
Humans (10 last I heard) run the 1911 process, and occasionally miss the minute details when grading and sorting the thousands of 1911s.
The 1911 forum has plenty of pictures of lottery 1911s that would have done well on the auction.

Drive it like you stole it.......
