Took a Chance on a Rack Grade
I was contacted on 5/7/21 (RGN 20975) and my heart was set on a Rack Grade. My FFL received the pistol today and was kind enough to send two photos as I will be out of state for a while longer. The finish is exactly what I wanted, original and worn. It's a Colt slide on what I'm fairly positive is an Ithaca frame. I'm not a big 1911 guy, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on it! Without seeing it in person, I am thoroughly pleased. Thank you CMP!

the more pictures I see the more I like all the grades!

I think I’m liking the look of the rack and field grades over the service grades. Service grades may generally make better shooters though.

This is why having choices is a good thing. You chose a rack grade because that is what you wanted. You are pleased with your decision and that is what counts. The pistol looks great, has that, been there, done that look, enjoy!

Every rack grade I have seen has been beautiful

Definitely cannot wait to see it in person. The photographs lost some clarity in transferring from one source to another. The markings on the frame that I can see are as follows: faint crossed canons ordnance mark, "FJA" inspection initials, a "P" next to the magazine release, "No" with line underneath prior to the six digit serial number (hard to tell the first two digits from what I received), and "FK" with accompanying flaming bomb near the serial number indicative of a WWII/post-war RIA rebuild.

I feel like a kid waiting to get it in hand, check all the fine details, and do a thorough cleaning!

Nice looking pistol. Love the look.

All I can add at this point is the FK is a '50's RIA rebuild.
Poyer's book reverse's the EB (Elmer Burkje) earlier, with FK Frank Krank (later) dates at RIA.
Enjoy, nice pistol I would love to receive!

And look at the Flaming Bomb stamp under the serial number.
