Winchester Stock Question

Would the unboxed WRA over GHD be correct with a high wood or low wood stock?

col b 05-11-2021 06:28 PM

I have a highwood WRA over GHD...no box.

My references say the small letters WRA over GHD can be found on both original highwood and low wood stocks.

Thanks Mike, how do you tell the difference between an original low wood and a high wood cut down to low wood with small letters WRA over GHD?

Most of the time, where the low wood starts or ends, the cut is not even and the front termination is not cut at the same angle or radius.
The down side is, without pictures, or having an original low wood stock to compare, it can be hard to tell. Most if not all of the high wood Winchester stocks would have type 1 band usage and original low wood Winchester stocks would have original type 1 or type 2 band usage.

On an original WRA low wood stock the radius of the cut is unique. It’s different than other low wood stocks. Pictures would help.

I think it has been cut down. Still a very nice stock.

Is your opinion based on the radius of the front (muzzle end) cut or something else?
