Neat find

While working in one of my outbuildings I found this on a shelf. My question for the experts, is this raw or boiled? Yes I plan to use it.

I would say raw. I would use it. I find most of my BLO at garage sales. Old 1/2 cans on shelf! usually 25 cents per can!! LOL.

I want to agree....the "pure" wording makes me think raw.
Could this can be before 1970, as Valspar merged with Minnesota Linseed Oil in 1970...

I couldn't see a date anywhere. But on the back of the can there was no indication I could find about Valspar. It is full never open as far as I can tell.

Save that can or reuse it.Those "regular" cans are getting hard to find.

My shotgun stock Im hitting almost daily with coats of "Pure/Raw" linseed oil is coming out perfect.

well looking at that ebay page, you can sure try to sell anything.and everything appears to have a collector for it. makes garand/carbine/1911 collectors look pretty sane

DDRode’s link shows a can I assume is identical to Det Jason. And the can on eBay says “boiled”. Both on the cap and in the description on the back of the can. So I guess it’s boiled linseed. Maybe the “pure” has to do with the sourcing of the flax?

It will probably take me a few years to empty it, its full. My last quart of BLO lasted 10 years.
