Your about 60 spots ahead of me
Hopefully you early next week me mid to late next week.

Considering my Feb. submission garnered a wonderfully high 29,780, I imagine I'll have the chance at a rack grade in 1-2 years.

Wife got her # 2261 on April 6.

Still waiting on mine.

vblue42 04-11-2021 01:33 AM

My apologies if this has been covered in another thread. I got my RGN of 31,152 on April 6th. Does anyone know how many pistols the CMP will be getting? Will I get one with my RGN this high? Thanks for any info.

Trying to be prepared

With my RGN being 20604 Iím trying to stay prepared when the call comes. Iíve got all the FFL info in my wallet ( including a backup FFL)

Hopefully Iíll get the call before the end of April.

My thought/theory on this (I purchased one in the first round so have no skin in the game) is that cmp may only be assigning numbers based on the known quantity of pistols available at this time.

carrguy1 04-11-2021 10:38 AM

Complete speculation, but Iíve seen in discussions on other sites that the allotment to the CMP is something like 8k-10k per year which is why some people in round one werenít called until last year. IF thatís correct (big IF) then maybe only RGNs up to 28000-30000 will be called this year and the rest next year. Of course it could go higher because not everyone who got a RGN will wind up buying one.

terry_b 04-11-2021 01:58 PM

well, seeing as how there are only 3,024 people ahead of me, I'm feeling pretty good. Just concerned that my son hasn't gotten a number yet and being how he is now stationed in Bahrain and is notoriously poor about keeping up with archaic forms of communications like e-mail, I advised him to give it a couple weeks then email that cmp address for 1911 issues. In the past, CMP has been pretty great about working with you on "real" problems

All you can do is wait and see my friend. My RNG was 9446 and I was told they do not have enough pistols to complete my order. You can laugh now but 2 years ago when I got my email I wasn't sure that I'd ever get one.

Mark Johnson made it clear on video that we shouldn't ask the question nor will CMP discuss any details.

waffles 04-11-2021 04:10 PM

While I definitely wish I hadn't procrastinated on getting my packet in early, I'm fairly confident I'll get one. My FFL got a pretty rad one as one of the last of the last batch, and getting mine later in the year (or next) will be nice for the budget.

You continue to speculate with the numbers, and confuse the whole process doing so.
Quote "these have to be inspected by the CMP first." is blatantly wrong.
All, speculation on the forum might be fun for some, but random is random.
We'll all get a pistol eventually.
So cool !

I donít understand your commentóarenít all of the pistol inspected? I think Mark Johnson mentioned they got the guns highest rated by DLA first, so we might be into the lower grades that might need (hopefully just) minor work.

We are working with an incomplete data set, but you can't find one person that submitted on 1/4 that got a RGN over 26,000. You also can't find a late Feb./early March submission under 25,000. I submitted late Feb. and was 29780. It will be interesting to see if that changes as we get more data.

Packet Sent: 2/4/2021
RGN: 279xx

Glynn863 04-12-2021 09:36 AM

Just an idea / comment. Everyone who qualifies during the open submission period gets a number. Then, those numbers, whether low, high, or in the middle, are randomly selected, a set batch quantity every day, until the numbers are exhausted. That way, people residing in the same household aren't assigned sequential numbers or the like, that has raised some speculation about the current RGN process. This way, anyone could "get the call" at any time, and maybe everyone would be satisfied. Again, just an idea / comment.

I have my RGN (298xx), so I'll patiently wait.

I saw that trend too, that's why I said "supposed to" and "should not have" in my statement ;)

My packet arrived on March 4th and my number is 30196

jukes_37207 04-12-2021 12:13 PM

RGN random generator

Let me start out by saying I sent in my packet on the 3rd of March but have received no RGN. My buddy sent his packet in from the same post office on the last day of eligibility and got his RGN back a week ago. The forum says if you have confirmed your packet was received, give it a couple of weeks. Every time I try to confirm if my packet was even received I get the wait till May message. Still donít know how to confirm if my packet was received. The other issue is that so many people in the forums stating when they put theirs in and what their RGN is, it seems obvious that packets were assigned RGNís as they arrived as all the earliest ones have the lowest RGNís. How is this random generation? If this is the case and I was told in advance, I would have had mine in the first day. Just trying to understand. Thanks for your time, patience and efforts. Joe.

ID-Garand 04-12-2021 12:31 PM

Sent my packet in at the last moment, and I'm number 31,◊◊◊ 😬 Assuming I'll get a call, maybe Dec. Or jan

So you mailed it out on March 3rd for a March 4th deadline? If it went standard USPS and you live more than 100 miles away from them, then it probably didn't make it on time.

I believe it just has to be postmarked by the deadline

Mtz1598 04-12-2021 04:23 PM

Received the call today at 2:05pm mst.
My RGN# 20135 she asked me a few questions
I sent my FFL right away. She offered all three grades
I choose Field Grade and paid. Now I wait for it to be shipped. Some have
Asked what number they used to call it was the 256-770-4744. This the number listed
On their website. I had it in contacts under CMP 1911 so I would know when the call came and it worked perfect.

A guy posted in one of the facebook groups today that he never received his RGN, but then CMP called him up asking him what pistol he'd like to order.
So you may still have an RGN and get "the call" without ever knowing your RGN.

CMP will not confirm arrival of your packet. If you used regular US Mail then there is no confirmation possible. If you used tracking (Priority mail, FedEx....) then you may confirm, on your own.

If it is postmarked before the deadline, wait patiently until May, THEN contact CMP.
If possibly you mailed after the deadline then re-read the rules and try again in round 3.

You might want to fix that number.

I submitted my packet last minute (March 3rd, USPS priority mail) and got RGN 31711. I donít mind though, Iíve got time to save up for it.

ArizonaKid 04-13-2021 10:26 AM

How does the RGN process work?

Can someone please explain how the RGN process works?
Are all correctly completed applications, received by the deadline, assigned random number which then creates the order in which you get ďcalledĒ?
Or is your application assigned a number upon receipt and then calls are made by randomly selecting numbers?
Or???

If things are random, the odds of Mr & Mrs Dusty getting 2 sequential numbers and being called together would be, very very low, but admittedly not impossible.

So please, an official explanation of the process would squelch some of the very negative postings occurring outside of this forum which detract from the great work of CMP.
Thanks for clarifying.

The CMP doesn't owe anyone an explanation of how they do things. They are diligently working with a skeleton crew in order to process orders for the 1911/1911a1. From what I have seen there are an increasing number of whiners with regards to the RGN, the 1911 they have received, etc. If you don't like the process, don't do it. When you buy a lottery ticket and inevitably don't win, do you demand an audit every week? At this point I think that the CMP should have charged a small fee to enter the lottery for dealing with all of the crap. The CMP is comprised of great people. Let them do their job and if you have an RGN, you will eventually have the awesome opportunity to pick up a 1911/1911a1.

The process has been explained over and over on this forum, by CMP admin.
Read more. Post less. It will be less stressful to you, and those that like to read these posts, to see the nice pistols being purchased through the CMP.

If the RGN process has caused you this much anguish, please call the CMP and tell them to void your RGN. Life is a series of random events that are not always fair. I am certain the CMP has done their best to make this process fair. Humans are involved, so I'm sure that the process is not perfect.

After almost two years of waiting in Round 1, I got my opportunity to buy one. During the wait, I would check this forum once or twice a week to get a ball park figure on how far away I was. I checked more often as my RGN got below 1000 away from being called. During the waiting time I educated myself about the process, and the pistols, by reading the older posts here in this forum.

I am adding a smiley face to indicate I mean well, with my humble advice. :)

Bravo to beavis1971 and Steve-OH !

Billdozier29 04-13-2021 11:46 AM

I got the call yesterday for RGN 20111. Went with a Service Grade. I am really excited for the pistol to arrive and to see what I get. I was a starting to get a little worried as I saw a few people with higher RGNís than mine getting the call last week. Did my packet get misplaced? Did someone make an error and they accidentally skipped over me? It seems like they donít go in order exactly but they are close. If you find yourself in a similar situation be patient. They will be calling you within a couple days.

ArizonaKid 04-13-2021 11:51 AM

I never said anything negative about CMP staff. Do not say that I did. In all of my dealings with them they have been great.
I did not ask about my specific application/RGN.
I did ask to understand how the 1911 RGN process works, I donít think thatís an unreasonable request, however you are free to have a different opinion.
I donít play the lottery, but the rules and procedures are transparent.
My opinion is that transparency is a good thing, again you are entitled to alternative opinion.

They are not going to explain their process and since the numbers are going out...it's a done deal.

That's a great piece of advice. Just put it in my phone.
And I'm 27,457 I have several months, but that's okay, I'm just happy to have a number.

I scrupulously followed the instructions and forum posts before sending in my packet and double checked all entries. Mailed it in before the deadline along with my friend at same post office at the same time. He got his notification over a week ago. I was told there are issues with emails ending in Comcast.net, yet I receive email from folks when I try to find out if the packet was received. That is why I am worried. If I miss out this time, I will definitely use FedEx or UPS to be able to track my packet and not have to thru all this worry. Thanks for all the help.
