Pictures? Im going with a rack also... Are you happy with yours?

msmith5150 06-22-2022 09:04 PM

So I was one of the Lost Boys, #30196, and never got a call. If I had not decided that I wouldn't be making a purchase in this round, I would have sent an email asking what was up. But since I'm not buying it would be silly of me to inquire, just to say "thanks for the call, but I respectfully decline to purchase". Although it is odd that I was skipped entirely.

At any rate, I am just making it known to anyone that is keeping track of the numbers and calls. I hope you all enjoy your piece of history! :)

AK1911 06-22-2022 09:36 PM

Hard to keep track of numbers when there hasn’t been any updates in a while.

I’m guessing the higher number’s aren’t as active on CMP Forums, or rather I’m hoping that’s the case. If they’re down to something like 25 contacts a day, and no longer accepting requests it makes me think they may be running out.

mpdphil 06-22-2022 10:43 PM

I think the highest reported # here is 31441. Iím 31711 and still waiting patiently. Iím just thankful for the chance to be the first civilian owner of one of these old war horses. Plan on choosing a rack grade, and will be happy with whatever shows up at the FFL. Think Iíve made over 20 purchases from the CMP since 2005, always been happy.

31703 reported yesterday on the FB page.

MSMITH5150, sir, there is a reason you have not been contacted yet. I have sent you a PM as to why.

Received email and Call on Wednesday 6/22.

Field and Rack were on offer. I took field.

Sent docs immediately and received shipment confirmation later in the day!

I was just called a few ago, 31626. Chose rack. My ffl has been notified to send an updated copy of their FFL. They said they are super busy but hopefully they send it soon!

I'm 31,591 and I didn't get a call or an email. Wonder why I got skipped?

It happens, just hold tight. It depends on where you are in the stack. They called 77 ahead of me then called me this morning.

Iím 31580 and havenít heard anything yet, but hopefully will in a few days. Patiently waiting, but anxious.

Jk2837 06-23-2022 06:47 PM

I got my shipping notification so guessing ill have it tomorrow! TN doesn't have all of the silly wait laws....Thankful to be from the south!

g2contender 06-23-2022 07:18 PM

Well,
Picked mine up today. RR frame and slide. 1945 date, I believe. Looks awesome. Field Grade.

Jk2837 06-24-2022 11:31 AM

Ok, you guys in the know please help? Picked up my colt/colt today sn# 1180824 & has the following markings if someone could share your knowledge in what they mean? Has crossed cannons, SA on right side, GHD on left side, 35 on trigger guard with K on the other side, P on top of slide & on left frame?

Kramerica 06-24-2022 11:04 PM

Papa got his call on Thursday. He was offered rack & field, he chose field. They didnít have his choice of FFL on file so he had call. That FFL did not answer the phone or return his messages so he had to find a new FFL. Got that done and license sent in EOD today. When I got my pistol a few months ago there was a delay on shipping Field grade pistols. Is that still an issue?

Try looking at this website http://www.coolgunsite.com/ you should be able to find most of what you are looking for there.

Look at the Guide and ID Pages on the left side of the home page.

Yes,I actually found that site after I posted. Found out a lot! Looks like all correct? Not real sure about the Springfield barrel but I found on another site that 1943s came with the Springfield from the factory....

I expect they will open a round 3 for applicants once they have reached the the end of the current round. At least I hope they do. My nephew is old enough to qualify now and Iím sure he would like to get one himself. I believe the deal with the army is for up to 10k pistols per year and I donít think they have sent that many in a year yet. I also think I read some where the army has over 100k 1911 pistols in their inventory. Though a quick search left me unable to verify that number, so take my numbers with a grain of salt as they could be complete BS. 🤞🏻

I wonder if they have done a more recent update to that report.

Kramerica 06-25-2022 10:40 AM

Using that Rand report as a search tool I found a GOA report on the Rand report that’s a little shorter but still has the pertinent information from 2019.

“The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2018 required the Army during fiscal years 2018 and 2019 to transfer surplus .45 caliber M1911 handguns to CMP, including not fewer than 8,000 in fiscal year 2018 and not more than 10,000 in any fiscal year.”(page 1)

“RAND estimated:
• Based on the assumption that the Army would ultimately transfer to CMP all 98,016 surplus M1911 handguns, that CMP would generate gross profits of approximately $8 million, including from the sale of the 8,000 M1911 handguns already transferred to CMP in fiscal year 2018.”(table 5)

This report is only 8 pages so it’s not terrible to read.

https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-19-555r.pdf

If you figure they have supplied 32k pistols so far, there are still 66k pistols that could be sold. That’s provided that congress doesn’t remove the program from the NDAA in a future year.

No sir. That would be round 2 time line thread.

pupwood 06-25-2022 12:57 PM

That’s odd , This thread is listed on the CMP 1911 forum as “The Official RGN Discussion Thread.”

Do you have questions or reporting ? Guess I was thinking you were reporting being called. This is for questions & info. They don't like much chatter on the timeline..

pupwood 06-25-2022 10:02 PM

I was confused with all the “chatter” on proof marks , etc.
Nothing RGN related recently.

Iím 31711 and got the call this morning. They had Rack and Service available, I chose rack. My FFL should be emailing his license to them shortly. Will update when I find out what Iím getting.

RGN 29645
I got "the call" today 6/28 at 1320. Offered Service or Rack and went with Rack. Emailed my FFL dealer and they sent a new copy to the CMP under 5 minutes. Credit Card hit within 20 minutes.

Back in April, my RGN was past up by 500-600 so I emailed the CMP. They confirmed that they got a "delayed" from Uncle Sugar when they queried the magical mystery system.

Mikeb7247 06-28-2022 07:36 PM

31,597 called today. Rack and service available. Chose service and waiting on my ffl to send the paperwork.

x2warvet 06-28-2022 08:22 PM

RGN 31580 and received the call this morning. CMP requested updated FFL which was sent promptly. I received shipping confirmation and most likely be at my FFL tomorrow. Rack and service grade available and I chose service grade. I received a Remington Rand slide and Colt frame. Nice pistol and has no rebuild markings. Thanks CMP. With the workload, they seem to run very efficiently.

RGN 31886
My packet was submitted at the deadline; can't recall the date.

Received call Friday morning (July 1)
Service and Rack grades available

Next step for me is to contact my FFL dealer and have a copy of their FFL sent. (I called my dealer yesterday and he has been receiving 1911s. I explained this to the CMP rep; she told me that each buyer needs to submit a copy of the dealer FFL.)

cmp1911admin 07-01-2022 04:32 PM
