Not often at all. I have many 10s of thousands of dry fire exercises on my rifles and have " never " broken a firing pin in 54 years of doing it. I always keep spares just in case, but so far so good.

When I competed with the M14, I had an entire spare bolt (that I'd checked with the rifle) in my stool.
I figured I could quickly just swap out the entire thing if at a match and things went south.
