Never seen anything like that. Almost looks like someone put an extension on the end of a barrel that had been cut off. I doubt that barrel was an original manufacture barrel and looks like a Frankenstein construction. There were some carbines that came out of Canada that had extensions added to the barrel to make them a legal length up North. Up there, I think rifle barrels have to be 18 inches instead of 16 inches.
