recent post on Facebook, Colt/ Military/ Commercial/ Vintage 1911 Historical Studies and Research "I got me CMP rack grade and was floored by this most unusual Frankenstein gun. Colt M1911 frame, Colt WW2 slide, HS barrel and a mix of serrated and checkered parts. No arsenal rebuild stamp, however the frame has a “G” and ”H”. What most surprised me was the coarsely milled finger cuts. I wanted to share the pictures for the collective knowledge, and would love to learn more about this odd ball conversion. I received A Colt 1911 ,first round serial number 130716,both uppser and lower colt with a Museum pistol marked with the red and white sticker on the slide number 43,A field grade but it easily could have been a Service grade,I think it ios a field as it looks to be not refinished and in very good shape with a little speckleing on one side, Lower is marked AA just in fron t of the slide release below the rampant horse notch.United states Property is to the left of that .Slide is H marked just behind the Site above the firing pin and a punch mark,right above the firing pin where the hammer strikes it .Model of 1911 U.S. Army on oned side of the slide and patented april 20,1897,sept 9 1902,dec 19,1905,feb 14,1911,aug19,1913 the rampant colt then Colts PT.F.A.MFG. CO below that Hartford CT USA. Thats all there is on this Old Gal,Nothing else,But it does have the typical WW-II replacement plastic grips.I think this once fell between when Colt Stopped making them and Springfield started up so would this be a 1911 ColtSpringfielder? Came from the CMP

Colt 1911 Number two is from a Private Friend of Mine,Who owns a Gun store..It looks all original except the slide stop.Serial number is No145268.Has original finish worn with a plum patina thru out ,Lower is marked United States Property.Also looks like a GHS in like a small circle above the push button safety behind the trigger other than that nothing else on the lower,The slide has patented April 201897,sept 9,1902,Dec 19,1905,feb 14 ,1911 and below that Colts PT.F.A. MFG.CO.Next to it on the slide is Springfield Armory U.S.A. and on the back of the slide the Flaming Bomb .On the other side of the slide is a eagle with winge spread and Model of 1911.U.S. ARMY. Thats about it .Im no expert but thought maybe you that are may be interested.Have a good day!
