I have noting on the Essex as that's a commercial frame.

The Colt shipped to Bush Terminal in Brooklyn on either June 6 or June 12, 1918. The June 12 shipment was specifically for the American Expeditionary Forces. The gun shows up in the SRS on April 8, 1936 at Camp Clark.

This one left the factory in February 1945. It probably got rebuilt at least once before getting the new barrel in '85 but no way to know.

Thank you sir. I agree the pistol was rebuilt and by the looks of the internals, slide stop and thumb safety, external finish, this pistol may have been in storage since the mid ‘80’s.

why is this thread alive again? is CMP shipping a new batch? I thought the 1911 thing was over.

Is this another round from the lottery filed years ago??

I can tell you that the frame originally shipped in December 1943. It may have gotten the slide and barrel at the same 85-or-later rebuild but no way to know.

No problem. Unfortunately I can't find it specifically but the frame would almost certainly have originally shipped in December 1943 to either Augusta or possibly Rock Island. The records are incomplete and guns didn't ship in order, but all in that range were going to those two destinations.
