GI .45 barrels were designed to be a drop in replacement part, there's no fitting or staking of the pin needed.

Never heard of different sizes of original GI barrel links, or are you referring to new commercial parts?
I suggest finding & using original GI parts, they're out there.

I put a NOS HS barrel, link and pin in my 44' Remington Rand. Only thing I certainly noticed after the replacement is the pistol is more accurate than with the worn out barrel
