Iíve put about 25 rounds down range. I may shoot it again once in a while as a WWII tribute but I much prefer my commercial version at the range.

I have put 50 rounds through my CMP1911. Only because I bought 2 50 round boxes of .45 when I filled out my order form. This was and still is my only .45 pistol. Back in November and December last year I purchased more .45 from Talladega Marksmanship Park. I'm planning on saving those for a special occasion. My wife did tell me as soon she gets hers she wants to shoot it. So that will be a good time. Hopefully ammunition will come back to decent prices and available again.

My Wife and I received almost identical RR. decided to shoot one and save one. Both had been reparked and not fired since then. At least there were no marks on it. It is awesome.....

Ditto: That's what there for, shoot till the barrel is red hot. Does no good sitting in a chest of draws or closet... Granted Ammo is expensive at this time. hopefully will come down, everything I read it's all due to hoarding.... and about 60% of all guns sales are to new shooters...

IMHO: Shootem if you gottem. Danke.

If I'm not mistaken, CMP test fires 1911's before they go out. So you might as well put a few rounds through it, you have to clean it anyway. I did put a Wolff Spring Service pack kit in mine, and saved the original springs it came with.

I got a US&S from the auction in the fall of 2019 so the weather turned and then Covid so I haven't yet shot it. Hopefully something this summer I'll get to the range

I an not going to shoot it a lot , for that I have a mixmaster RR from 1944

Absolutely.
Let my kids (15 and 12) shoot it too. They were very excited.

I'll be putting rounds through my CMP Round I - 45' Colt/Colt USMC Albany rebuild. I only fire non corrosive GI Ball ammo through my GI .45s
There's nothing like the feeling and smell shooting original USGI ammo through these time pieces. Glad I've also been a collector of USGI non corrosive ammo for years.

I shot mine the day after I picked it up. I plan on shooting it a lot more.
