The front of the book features a guy grinding something on a bench grinder, and some AR-15’s to the right of him on the workbench…. The article is about 8-1/2 pages long and it pretty detailed.
I’ve read about that article in some other threads. Very expensive and he went all out on the conversion as I recall—lots of unnecessary machine work (assuming one could source the appropriate parts).

If you want a repeater! You have to machine and fit a bottom back into the 03 and correctly or it wot feed. So, yeah its time intensive if you have a good smith/machinist working at hourly wages. $3500 would be say a good starting point, then add the stock work.

Your prolly looking at prolly $10,000 worth work right here when final product is complete.

Sure, to a good smith that’s no issue. Fit barrel index it, cut chamber headspace. You can use spindex off index mark 90 degrees and fit front sight. Something you have to do with any iron sighted barrel. Im no machinist but have watched it few times. These are basic smithing concepts.
Not alot different than indexing teR sight collar.
