I received my email back on my FOIA request for my cmp1911a1, and the email header it states CLASSIFICATION: UNCLASSIFIED
the results are only as early as 2010, could it mean that it's previous entries are something that cannot be released? I think it is just simply stating the information they were able to find as a result of this FOIA request is Unclassified in nature, not that there is additional "Classified" they could not release.

yes, I believe so too - it has to be unclassified to be released to the public
that said, it is interesting you don't get where it came from; ......received the weapon from a Department of Defense (DoD) Agency. |

This pistol was a rack grade I received. It's a blued 1940 colt frame with stippling on the front grip area of the frame and has a rebuild Mark that is presumed to be from the marine Corp base in Barstow |

Every Army email has a classification header. When you hit send a classification selection comes up. Whatever the sender selects, is printed in the header. You don't send classified messaged on NIPR. The secret side is called SIPR and they do not interface. Putting classified info on NIPR is called "leakage" and will get your computer wiped as well as get you into alot of trouble (unless you are named Hillary).

That's why it says UNCLASSIFIED, nothing classified was given out. I simply stated that what info before 2010 could possibly be classified, as that doesn't show up on a FOIA request , and isn't available to anyone that gives these reports to us

There are plenty of Logistics databases available that specify that any and all results obtained are to be treated as controlled unclassified information (cui) such as FOUO and not releasable.

FWIW, my FOIA also only starts at 2010 and has the same verbiage as yours (even with the .45mm typo). Disappointing, but it is what it is

IN active units weapons are sensitive items along with a ammo, COMSEC, etc and inventoried by the primary hand receipt holder who appoints a disinterested party to conduct the inventory and resign the sensitive items inventory. 100% physical inventory by serial number. I lack that expertise in Guard/Res units.
