Hello Forum members,
Glad to be aboard; my first question is in regards to my USGI Quality Hardware M1 carbine regarding "wiggle" from twisting the front of the barrel back and forth all way down to the receiver/recoil plate...still learning to navigate the Forum - is there an existing thread I can jump in on to provide pix and more details? |

Receiver should not move in the recoil plate. If it does you need another recoil plate.

Hi Ring 6,
Thanks for your reply...it definitely is not a tight fit - there is some back-and-forth movement between the receiver and the recoil plate. I have attached some pix to show the gap between the recoil plate and stock. Appreciate you weighing in on this... ![]() https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/1821/REHISY.jpg |

GotSnlB28,
Your observations are greatly appreciated...I plan on taking the entire carbine down, cleaning up the stock, and examining all the critical points of contact. Kind regards to all who have weighed in on this issue! Now on to trying to swap out the front sight, Type 3 barrel band and adjustable rear sight... |

The sling well has an "I.R" proof mark, with a flaming bomb to the lower-right (see the attached pix)...
The top of the barrel has the following proof mark: "Inland MFG Div" "General Motors" "12-43" 4" below this is a stamped P 5" below this is another stamped P Any opinions on this? Much appreciated! ![]() ![]() |
