Thumbs up Version 4.0.2 of NM Collector Software JE now available

This will most-likely be the final release of NM Collector Software JE. You can download it through our new eCommerce site.

If upgrading from a previous version, please follow the "Upgrade Instructions" on our download page.

The following changes were made in this release
  1. Enable you to select your own bar code font - not just the default which is currently no longer available for download. I will create a new bar code blog with details.
  2. Added a few more usage hints that will appear if you hover your mouse over a blank section of the application screen.
  3. Increased the number of digits available in currency fields. It seems some people use NM Collector software to manage collections of items with individual values in the millions of dollars range.
  4. Updated the Maintenance Report to no longer truncate dates.
  5. Change the Picture Path when pictures are stored in the database to indicate such.
  6. Added an additional warning to encryption process noting that encryption cannot be undone.
  7. Deleted Backup and Recovery menu items from Options menu. These were retired long ago. The best backup/recovery approach is to copy the entire application to a backup location.
  8. Removed the File > Save to Disk menu option as it is not used.
  9. Provide a popup (right click) in the tree view to allow you to quickly expand and collapse all items in the tree view.
  10. Reworked many of the reports to correctly use the combination of "A&D" and "Include in Reports" options.
  11. Corrected inventory reports to not include dispositioned items. It makes no sense to include items you no longer have in an inventory report.

Thank you.

Default

Tried to open in Mac running Big Sur. It said I needed permission. (I do not as I am the only one using this computer and I have all permissions) I then played with it a while and tried to open it and received "NMCollectorJE.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash. Firefox downloaded this file today at 10:03 AM from download-files.wixmp.com."

I deleted it and downloaded it again and got the same result

Lightbulb Work Around - Mac Big Sur blocks NM Collector when downloaded from web

Apple is making it harder and harder to deploy programs over the web. Their latest change will require that I completely refactor NM Collector JE again to meet their more stringent requirements. I wrote a blog post on it here:

https://www.nmcollector.net/post/run...4-0-2-on-a-mac

However, there are work arounds:
  1. Order NM Collector Software on a USB - I am an Apple "Identified Developer" so as long as the software is not downloaded from the web it will run on Big Sur.
  2. Run NM Collector JE on your Mac using the terminal - as a Linux application - details can be found in the blog link I posted above.

That's it. My new software that I am developing "should" not have this issue ... at least not for now. I am close to a very limited functionality Proof of Concept which should be available for testing soon.
