Is the only way to place a rifle order through snail mail? Can it be done through the E-Store? Need one of those rustys. Thank you for any assistance.

Yes, they need a "wet" signature. Also, on your first order that signature will need to be notarized.

Thank you CC, first time mail orderer here. Can you please direct me to the documents I would need? Are they on the site? I usually take the long drive to the North Store when I want rifles.

I would suggest in person order. If you can't go, have someone act as your agent.

Work out with the agent what to get an have them place the order. You would get the order faster that way also. Since kimbers can have rust in them, the agent can find one with cosmetic rust only. (Surface rust instead of rust in barrel or action)

My timeline update - the order finally made the estore!
Sent 2/25
Received 2/28
DBU 3/11 11 days after receipt
Estore 5/22 83 days after receipt
CC 5/22

Living over 2400 miles from the north store, over 2700 from the south, I won't be going in. If there is a next time, how do I find somebody to act as an agent?

By the looks of things, my order must be getting close.
Update: Received my "rusty" last week, and couldn't be happier with it. I had expected the razor cut on the stock, but was surprised to find a sealed bag with no cuts... the only cut was to the bag holding the manual and cards with the serial number. Plenty of yellow preservative, but no rust to be found, even in the bolt that I broke down and cleaned last night. Awesome figure on the walnut stock... can't wait to hit the range. thanks CMP!!

Smile Beautiful Kimber 82 "rusty" just arrived

Ordered on March 26th, order confirmed May 31, Shipping notice yesterday, arrived this morning (June 4th)

NO scratches, minimal rust on sights, none on barrel or bolt. This is one beautiful piece. Can't wait to assemble the sights and test fire it tonight.

Had to scrub hard to get the yellow dye from the plastic packing off hands.

As usual I am happy with CMP.

I was nowhere near as lucky as perkpark. I sent my order in a month earlier and received the rifle today. I was pleased to find no scratches or cuts on the stock or metal, and no rust on the rifle or in the bolt. Then I opened the sights...

The front sight had several dots of rust, all of which came off easily with a brush, solvent, and CLP. But the rear sight is covered in rust - probably 25% of the exposed surface rusted, and all parts have a lot of rust on them. Does anybody have advice on cleaning the rust off the rear sight?
