Coolhandluke thanks for the pics . How did you cut them nice holes for the barrel rest ???

I didn't have access to a router so I used a drill with a 3/4" hole saw attachment and then carefully finished inletting the barrel cutouts with a dremel and sanding drums.

The illustration below shows the area where the hole saw was used (in black) and the areas that were inletted by hand with the dremel (in yellow). The measurements have to be fairly precise or else the gate will contact the stock and not fully close. It took a little trial and error to figure the correct placement as there were no references that I was able to locate that provided specific dimensions for the wooden barrel rest or the depth, width, and spacing of the cutouts. Luckily it only took two attempts to get it right.

I should note that the measurements noted in the document above show that there should be .5" of space (on each side) between the rear of the barrel cutouts and the support crossbar that the rest is mounted to...I had to adjust this slightly and add an additional .10" to the depth of the cutouts to get the gates to close without any contact. This left a distance of 2.3" between the parallel cutouts giving .4" of space between the rear of the cutout and the support crossbar on each side.

The outside pieces are 32'' long & the bottom is 16 1/2'' wide. Would any one know the degree of the angle cuts at the bottom corners. My ruff guess is the angle is 40 degrees. Would like to make sure before I make my cuts. Thanks for any help.

Nice Man Cave. Using the fireplace as a lead smelter?

Outstanding job. You might try pm'ing the forum member (kpaintner) that purchased my two stands and request measurements on the gates. Hopefully he can help.

I think I got it. Just got to sand blast & paint. Welding could have been better but not bad for the fist time. Hope it don't fall apart

Very cool! How much is shipping to the US? Would like some design mods on mine though.
