Received my field grade 1911 this weekend
1945 Remington Rand with matching slide. New barrel FJA mark on left side and crossed cannon visible on right Have not had time to take apart. I am not a 1911 expert. Love to hear more about this pistol.       You’ll  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rack Grade Ithaca/RR came in today! Very pleased. No rebuild marks that I can see. HS marked barrel. Don't know about the other parts yet but I'm happy!

My Rack grade, very late RR frame and TZ slide w/1985 dated chrome lined TZ barrel. It has 3 rebuild markings and is ugly as hell. Just what I wanted!

Rack Grade: Ithaca (frame) Remington Rand (slide)
I've depended on others posting updates of their stories and pictures of this CMP 1911 adventure. So, I'm excited to be able to return the favor. I posted my stats in the appropriate thread, so I'll pretty much just get to the pictures on this one. But, I just want to first say how much I love the CMP. I've made the trip to Anniston and Talladega several times, and have several beautiful war horse rifles in my collection as a result. Thank Goodness the CMP provides this opportunity and put up the fantastic fight to bring the 1911's to the qualifying public. I passed on the first round, put in for the second round and am now glad that I did. It's been a ball tracking the "call" progress and seeing what's been posted. I received the CMP call last Wednesday and picked up mine on Friday from my FFL. It's exactly what I was hoping for, and even better than I expected. Pictures don't do these things justice. You have to hold and cuddle them to appreciate. I love the amount of wear, patina and "realness" this thing has. I chose Rack Grade after a ton of internal debate. My justification was in what I was looking for; as close to original as possible. From what I was seeing posted, it seemed the Racks aren't the most polished and rejuvenated option. But, they do seem to have the least amount of "upgrades" and refinishing between the three grades. There are some rare makes and original finish pistols being received. The vast majority though are mixed and seem to have had at least one refinish/parkerization. That's the category mine fits in. That being said it looks like the number of refinishing cycles is minimal. With absolute minimal internal wear it appears mine was used very little, at least after the last arsenal visit. Great experience with the CMP 1911 program, and I'm still giddy with the one I received. Thanks, Will.
