Default 1911 A1 broke

Hi,
I received my 1911A1 (rack grade) on 10/5/2021 Remington rand frame/ Colt slide, after several times of racking the slide back and dry firing seem fine then I rack slide back and the hammer would not stay back, it would not cock and stay back, also the safety would not engage slide, I have made several call and emails to CMP but have heard nothing so far, does anyone know the return policy on these pistol, I know nothing about how take down and do not want to make things worse,
Thanks in advance
John

Possibly an issue with the main spring (beneath grip safety)

The likely culprit is the sear spring - being either bent or simply out of position. The hammer strut could also be misaligned (in one case, I found a hammer strut that somehow got underneath one of the prongs of the sear spring (which itself was out of position and bent). All very fixable, though you may end up wanting to get a new sear spring.

You probably need to remove the mainspring housing to relieve tension on the hammer. The safety might need a little more push from the other side to remove.

I had the same situation once - ended up having to give the thumb safety a little whack with a rubber mallet from the opposing side ... after relieving the spring tension. OK, not the approved way of doing things, but this was on an old Springfield that was frustrating me lol.

CMP will fix it for the OP

What I find curious is I believe these are all test fired so what happened between being test fired and being received?

"wojo " is probably right. Could be a broken sear, but I don't see how. Make sure you oil it up before shooting. Learn how to do a 'field strip' also.
