I was able to track down a clean used sight collar from numrichs and got that installed and the c stock fitted last night! Heck of a transformation I’d say. It was late last night when I finished up so not too many pictures. But I do have a question on stock fit and and barrel pressure.

When tightening the action into the stock the barrel makes contact at the very tip and I have to pull the action probably a 1/8” down into the stock when looking at the sight collar for a reference. Would this be too much stock pressure or where I should be? Everything seats and prints nice comparing contact on the rear tang and behind recoil lug.

1/8 eh? . . . .

It sounds a bit much, BUT . . . .

Id shoot it for grouping capability . . . .it may be OK.

You can always relieve the tip if need be.

Before doing any wood removal and before shooting it in the new A1 stock, get some test groups with it in a "cut down" military stock. There are plenty of them available.

This way, you will know how it groups with a completely free floating barrel, and can compare it to groups you get when you shoot it in the longer stock.

It came originally in a cut down stock and shot fantastic for no better shot than I am. Although the previous owner shot what looks like spray foam the whole length of the barrel channel so it was bubba bedded.

Hi Remington92,

I lost track if you now have a new barrel on the action or the original. "IF'" you have a NEW barrel installed it is short chambered & has to be finish reamed.

Good Luck,
broom

I dont know, exactly . . . .But . . . .

My small sampling of rifles (6) show about 1/16 to 3/32 . . . .one old-timer shows zero!

Id shoot yours as is and make further decisions from there.
