I know the OP asked about High Power but then appeared to ask about CMP:

From the CMP Games rule book:

3.4.5 Individual Coaching
Coaching by Scorers or other competitors to assist new and inexperienced
competitors is permitted
. Such coaching should be limited to controlling
safety and assisting a competitor to get into position, adjust a sling, load or
unload and make sight adjustments. Coaching experienced or advanced
competitors by calling wind or rapid-fire shot locations etc. is contrary to the
spirit of these rules and is not permitted.

Our club will permit helping/coaching a new shooter, especially a first-time competitor, we have found we have more return shooters this way.

Below would probably give some guidance of what is commonly held to be defined as "Coaching"

CMP Definition of COACHING (High Power Rule Book)
“calling out specific instructions to a competitor is illegal coaching (Rule 3.5)”

Examples from other Rulebooks:
CMP Definition of COACHING
“Coaching is defined as giving verbal or visual signals or advice to a competitor while they are on the firing line.”
https://thecmp.org/wp-content/upload...df?vers=011723

NRA Definition of COACHING
“As used herein, the term “coaching” shall include, but not be limited to, any form of signaling or communication from or between persons behind the ready line to or with a competitor forward of the ready line at any time after firing has begun and before the competitor returns to a position behind the ready line.”
