Default Bullets : when to strike

My take: powder and primer shortages will last far longer than any of us will like but bullet supply will recover far sooner.

When bullets recover, prices will drop to sane prices again and I will strike to buy.

Thats my plan.

DUH.

When prices drop, on ANYTHING you might want to have a stock of, you buy.

But bullets, without powder and primers are pretty useless.

Whats kinda useless is not planning ahead.
We've been thru these panic-buying deals before.....

Have about a 2yrs supply of whatever you need to shoot.
Only shoot a box a year, GREAT! Have 2-3 boxes.
Shoot 3 boxes a day?
You'll need more....
But have it on hand...

You (we) all should have been stocking up for the past 4yrs..

Bullet availability is coming back..... so too will the other items.

Midway has 286 bullet offerings available right now:

https://www.midwayusa.com/bullets/br...3D1%26Ntpr%3D1

and they seem to be at their normal prices............

And Midsouth now has 4 pages of bullets available:

PS: In a year or so..... if you haven't already..... start buying a reserve...

Whatever that means to you...……..

Still kicking myself for not buying a full case of each size of primer when prices and availability finally returned to normal after the last shortage in 2013.

When Wolf primers first came on the market, I tried some and found they were great quality, equal to or surpassing US made primers. So over the next few months I ordered over 250,000 primers of various types. I still have a good supply and those will probably last my lifetime. On yeah, they were about $12 a carton too. Buy what you can and stack 'em deep is always a good philosophy.

I have kept a 2 yr supply of powder and primers based on max use of 150 to 200 rounds per weekend. Bullets on the other hand have never in past "panic & shortage" times have never been extinct. They've always recovered and been available and I think that will replicate itself this time.

Bullets will be back soon and with low demand (no one has primers and powder), they'll be selling at prices of a year ago. I'll strike and buy a large supply then.

RIght now...I have a year supply of bullets but frankly, I underestimated the drama we now have for primers and powder. I used the Obama era as a yard stick and its the wrong yardstick !

2 yr supply of everything is what I should have anticipated...bullets included. I have myself to blame for not doing that on bullets but I think I'll recover on that mistake as bullets are surfacing again.
