As a VT resident who must pass through occupied territory to travel South or West I keep it simple. Arms are cased and unloaded. All materials are under cover and out of sight and not accessible from the passenger area.

Maybe everyone could caravan behind the CMP travel trucks and trailers on the way to the games.Meet in Pa and follow as escort so they have safe passage through NY.

You guys up north should be talking up this Vermont Games match.

I've been reading the threads about traveling through the State of New York to Vermont. I would like to attend the New England Travel Games in September, but I am greatly concerned about traveling through New York with my rifles, one of which is an AR 15. Also, it is my understanding that 20-round magazines are illegal in the State of New York. It is easy enough to purchase 10-round magazines, which is what I intend to do.

Has the CMP put out any sort of guidance on this issue?

I am not hearing good reports on sign ups for these Vermont games here at Camp Perry.
Please don't let this fail.
Get signed up and bring a friend to shoot your rifles.
I want to go next year.

Average Jericho, VT temps for mid Sept are low of 50 to high of 70 degrees. It doesn't get much better for rifle shooting, and in the Green Mountains ta-boot! I'm really pumped to come up from South Florida. Lets make these Games Happen!

Not the ideal answer, but if anyone is leery about traveling with "high capacity" magazines through NY,NJ and any others? Maybe the local shooters, or better yet, the CMP could provide M14,M1 Carbine, AR15 magazines at the site?

My son and I will be arriving later tonight. Anyone at the barracks?
Called the CMP and they said a fellow competitor may have to let us in after 18:00...
