I submitted a request on 21 MAR and got a reply today too. I was told that my request had been forwarded to USALDC at Redstone Arsenal.

Interesting. It took only 5 calendar days to get my FOIA report on my CMP 1911a1 back. I submitted it online 2 weeks ago.

Initially to DLA, then they automatically forwarded it to the Department of the Army FOIA.

I started to get some of my FOIA responses back. As mentioned, some contain nothing very much, but I did find that my IHC Field Grade was in Turkey.

The following Information was found in the DoD Small Arms/Light Weapons Registry for an M1, Rifle Caliber .30, NSN: 1005-00-674-1425, Serial Number: 50247XX. The records for this weapon are listed below in chronological order:

1. February 02, 2018 – The Tank Automotive and Armaments Command Civilian Marksmanship Program - Anniston, Alabama received the weapon from the 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Incirlik Air Base – Adana, Turkey.

2. February 02, 2018 – The Tank Automotive and Armaments Command Civilian Marksmanship Program - Anniston, Alabama shipped the weapon outside the DOD to the Civilian Marksmanship Program South - Anniston, Alabama.

Some hints to remember. They seem to get perturbed if you include commas in the serial number for ease of reading. They make certain to tell you in no uncertain terms that there are no commas in the serial numbers. Leave them out and make them feel better. The DoD registry for small arms only has data to 1975, when the registry was started.

One other was received from "The Center of Military History, Anniston, AL". It was then eventually shipped to the CMP. I am not sure what to make of that.
