Default SAI pre ban 018213

Hello. I have SAI pre ban serial #018213 sold on June 3 1981 as a standard grade. It has bolt marked 7790185 top line and SA centered on the second line. The 8 is missing in the bolt number. Would this be a USGI bolt. All help would be appreciated. pepper13

Post pics, should be most or all USGI, I have 0212xx a month or 2 away from yours. I would say USGI. Mine has TRW trigger, bolt, SA oprod, Douglas barrel. USGI stock. They are called 5 liners or preban. Post pics here or M14 forum. Dave [ad to your ID here]

My understanding if USGI SA made the bolt would be marked 7790185-SA on the first line and heat treatment number on the second line.....

You might want to read through this thread, see link below. Be aware that they could choose to replace the rifle with a new rifle if it does not headspace with a replacement bolt.

Ohhh..... OUCH..

You might have just made a massive mistake.

SAI can and might pull anything and everything off the rifle of USGI value and send you back replacements using inferior current parts.

I would have just hunted out a USGI bolt and see if it headspaced for you.

Hello. Received my M1A back from SAI. Replaced the recalled bolt with 7790186-SA on first line and F00392 on second line. Head spaced the bolt to my receiver serial number 018213. Safety checked and tested. Pleased with all the work they performed and quick turn around' Thank You pepper13
