I received a Field grade Colt. I am very happy with what I received. It looks like it is all colt except one grip panel.

I have not figured out a picture hosting service yet, but I did post some pictures here:

Newly received 1911a1 Field Grade with a Remington Rand frame & Colt slide. Grip panels look & feel brand new, probably installed during the Anniston Army Depot rebuild in 1980 where it looks like it was then put into storage until transferred to the CMP 1911 program. A little pitting but a very nice shooter as far as I’m concerned! I received the nice tan CMP case.

Default Colt Frame (Transitional) / Ithaca Slide

Received my Field Grade - Colt Frame/Ithaca Slide.

I have been doing some research to figure out where the smaller parts were made and any information from the pictures is appreciated!

I'm on a quest to find other 1911A1s that served in the same rack in hopes to discover where/what unit they were in. Photos here are of 2 Ithacas that were sent to Benicia Ordinance Depot in California on 2 Jan 1945 (#46 and #48) and another non Ithaca (#19) with what I believe to be the same style red ink rack number. These were all received in Round 2 CMP lottery.

If you have a similar 1911A1 with red rack number on the grip OR if you happen to come across one PLEASE reply here and let me know. Again, the goal is to find others in hopes of learning where they went from Benicia, California.

#48 is mine and I left the S/N visible to give you an idea of the S/N range.

OK. Long journey with a happy ending. Never got RGN. Finally got contacted 7/16. Called Definie (sweet lady) to pay and verify info. Picked up from FFL yesterday. Yikes! Thumb safety stuck. Looked closely with loupe to see gunk at the plunger. Hit it with a little homemade liquid wrench and it freed up. Phew!
Field Grade 1945 RR Frame with Colt slide. What appears to be an S&W replacement barrel.
Very happy. Love the "been there done that" patina.
