Default Encountered a 280 & a 270 in my '06 brass

In the course of making up some testing loads, down on the powder a bit, I noticed a plastic bag with extra clean brass in it....20 rnds maybe. Aha, a bonus, already cleaned brass. I checked the OA on several...good to go. About 15 in, the neck inside size gadget stopped on top the empty. I gave it a second and third push.......oops.......lets take a look.

Plainly marked .270 on the base. Shouldnt be too hard to make this into '06, having no use for a single 270. Aha........the shoulder is wrong too. So I spent 10 minutes shortening and moving the shoulder back a bit. Wasted time...shoulda pitched it. Still need to fire form somewhat.

I then hit a 280.....same game. Will pitch them next time.........

Berdan.......I have a sheet metal workers awl. Donna uses it to pick black walnuts. I use it to determine Berdan brass, put it on the point, try to center it, then spin. FN 57 can give a false indication......it is Berdan. Scrap.

Last time I loaded a batch of my 308 FGMM (Federal Gold Medal Match) clones I did so with a few 7mm-08 cases mixed in. Didn't even realize it until after I fired some & picked up the brass. They felt no different going through the sizing die, & they shot as well as FGMM.

I'd assume this means dummy cartridges used to verify that a rifle will feed and chamber a round with a given overall length and bullet seating depth properly.

I use Winchester and RP .270 cases for "The Load" Mod 2. Gonna put them in an M1 at the July walk-and-paste, so there'll be at least one bolt action on the line.

"Brass call! Who's shooting .270?"
"That weirdo whose Garand don't work." :P
