Default TMP 6 Mil

Purchased this on Wednesday at TMP. 6,097,756. Original metal with edge wear.

Was only one at opening. Intention was two pick up two RG specials. Grabbed the only two in the racks. Then a young EOD student from Eglin came in looking for his first Garand. No choice, had to hand one over. Returned to the rack and picked out the nicest stock. Convinced wife this would be my retirement gift. Good to hear there was a major restock the day I left town. Though I ended up way over budget, very happy with this one.

I have not broken it down yet. ME/TE 1+. Barrel appears to match receiver. Bolt WRA. No stock cartouches. Appears a field replacement. Non matching handguards may be birch. Any advice on lightening the forward one.

Take front HG off and sand it. Or get a new HG. Sand it and stain with early american. That is a close match to what you have https://imgur.com/8wrIBQH

Those 2 towards the right are that stain.

Do not sand it. either trade for a lighter one or use acetone to take layers of finish off until it matches better. If you trade, you should try to get the correct post war SA front guard with the dash crimps
