Anybody ever seen Frankford Arsenal boxes of just bullets (40 per box)? I've got a crate half full of the Red cartridge boxes (full) that hold 20 rds, and then there are these white boxes of just bullets, same size.
If I could figure out how to add photos, I'd do that. |

Not for a 45, but I have some bullet heads from another round, can't remember which one it is.
I'd love to see photos, you have to host on another 3rd party site, such as imgur.com or others |

Links working, interesting probably some collector interest. They packaged 30 cal M1 Ball bullets in 100 rd boxes.

I've seen the boxes of bullets before but, don't have any in my collection. Pretty neat. I'd be interested if you decide to sell some. The red label boxes are pretty easy to find in good condition. They have collector interest, too.

And more importantly to answer your question I see boxes of 40 bullets on page 294 so it was made and their out there 😊 One final useless trivia is that I read that the Chrysler corporation who owned the Evansville ordinance plant produced 3,264,281,914 rounds of .45acp ammunition between June of 1942 till April 20th 1944 they made 96% of all .45acp ammunition during the war I will never complain about my Dodge again 😂

"Apprentice": I have the Meadows book but didn't even think to look in there for this info! The page numbers you cite do not match what my page numbers are, though. I have the big hardcover book. Page 487 is where the Ammunition info starts in mine (inside the "Ammunition, Accoutrements and Appendages" section). I have 2 of those wooden crates they show, in which all of these boxes came. It's funny, though because I can't find a picture of the box of just bullets anywhere in mine.
Edit: I have Volume 1, 1894-1920. Maybe that's where the page number difference is. |

I think you caught it Meadows made 3 different books the earlier one is the date you posted 1894-1920 The second book is 1920-1945 And the 3rd book which I don’t have 1945 and runs up to 2012 I did look in my Clawson and did some some pictures of the boxes but I couldn’t find any 40 rounders At least we know that they were made but sounds link not as frequently as the 20 round boxes of WW1 and post WW1 up to the 50 round boxes made during WW2.
