Would a Rockola barrel be correct for an Irwin Pederson carbine? I haven't completely broken it down but everything else appears to be IP or S'G'. I'm helping a friend sell a couple of carbines and this is one of them.

Rock-ola is possible.
Does the barrel have a date?

2-43. It also has "P" stamped just above the stock.

From some old CMP auction data, there were two Irwin Pedersen carbines in the 1.770 and 1.777 million serial numbers that had 2-43 Rock-Ola barrels.

The serial number for this one is 1,770,XXX. It's a really nice rifle with an original, unrestored appearance. The other is a later Winchester with original bayonet lug and adjustable rear sight. Any suggestions in determining the value for the IP other than past auctions?

The 1.770 million number that was on the CMP auction was 1770333. Without lots of pictures, hard to venture a guess on value to determine condition and to determine with certainty that none of the parts are repro.

I have 1,771,XXX, and Arlington Ord import, that sports a 12-43 Inland barrel. Always figured it was a re-barrel but at the purchase price of $129 from B&B of SoCal in the early '90's I'm happy to have it in my basic collection.
Another plus with this example as that it received zero import marking, not even a light strike. I was in a large batch of Arlington Ord imports that B&B brought to a big gun show at Angels Stadium. My friend and I each scored an IP. Both had hang tags listing them as Inlands. Last edited by EricR; 07-05-2022 at 06:22 AM. |

Normally, would expect a barrel date from 10-42 to 6-43.

IP carbines most commonly had rock ola or underwood barrels. It is probably the correct barrel.
